Apple temporarily halts sales in Turkey due to economic crisis

Unfortunately, Apple's plans for the region are currently unknown, but assuming that this is only a temporary measure taken by the iPhone.

Apple has reportedly suspended sales of their products in Turkey for the time being. This news comes when the country is experiencing an economic crisis, where the currency in the region has experienced a considerable decline.

The Turkish lira declined 15% earlier this week, Reuters reports. This of course exacerbates the ongoing economic crisis. The problem comes as Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan tries to hold on to recent rate cuts.

Reporting from Gizmochina (25/11), the official store of the Cupertino tech giant company in Turkey is still up and operating, but users are not allowed to add the device of their choice to their virtual cart. The reason for this is because of the volatility in the country.

Currently, the Turkish lira is equivalent to around USD0.078 (Rp1,184), however, this inflation is around 20% because the President refuses to raise interest rates. In other words, the downward trend is expected to continue further.

Unfortunately, Apple's plans for the region are currently not known for certain, but assuming that this is only a temporary measure taken by the iPhone and other products, one can expect their stores to reopen soon. However, with the ongoing economic situation in the region, it is not certain that conditions will return to normal soon.
