When a Tahoe is no longer sufficient, you must upgrade to the Suburban. The Suburban is a larger, longer-wheelbase version of the Tahoe that sits atop Chevy's SUV ladder. The Suburban shares a platform with the Silverado 1500 pickup truck and seats up to nine passengers while providing ample cargo space.

The Suburban was completely redesigned in 2021, and for the first time in the model's 86-year history, it received a multi-link rear suspension. This modification enhanced third-row seat comfort significantly, as well as ride quality and handling confidence. For 2022, the 6.2-liter V8 engine will be more widespread across the lineup, and several active safety features will be standard. Although the Suburban has only one direct competitor, the Ford Expedition Max, it is frequently compared to other full-size body-on-frame SUVs, including its GMC Yukon and Yukon XL siblings, as well as the Nissan Armada and Toyota Sequoia. Check out our Expert Rating to see how the Suburban stacks up.
