Genesis' all-new small luxury SUV, the GV70, will debut in 2022. The GV70, which is smaller and less expensive than the similarly priced GV80, competes against the Acura RDX, BMW X3, Lexus NX, Mercedes-Benz GLC, and Volvo XC60. After finally having the opportunity to drive the GV70 for ourselves, we can state unequivocally that Genesis is dangerously close to matching established German luxury brands.
While the GV70 is visually similar to its larger sibling, the GV80, it has its own distinct style. The two SUVs share a similar front grille and dual-stripe headlight clusters, but the GV70 is distinguished by its raked roofline and wagon-like rear end, which emphasizes the vehicle's length. The GV70 is powered by the same engines as the larger GV80. The 2.5T is powered by a 300-horsepower four-cylinder engine, while the GV70 is powered by a 375-horsepower V6. Both engines deliver impressive power for the class.
The GV70 is packed with intriguing features. The new SUV's dashboard features a 14.5-inch touchscreen and an optional digital instrument display with a cool 3D effect for its graphics. Numerous advanced driver aids are included as standard, and other cool technology features include a fingerprint reader that can be used to restore the driver's seat, climate, and audio preferences with a simple touch on the dashboard.
Genesis' vehicles have steadily improved in terms of quality, performance, and refinement in the short time since the brand was founded. The 2022 GV70 demonstrates that it is capable of competing with Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz.
