MediaTek officially launches Dimensity 9000 5G

Using TSMC's 4nm technology, MediaTek officially launches Dimensity 9000 5G for premium and high-end 5G smartphones.

MediaTek has finally officially introduced the latest generation of SoCs. They introduced the Dimensity 9000 5G, which is aimed at premium and high-end 5G smartphones.

As is known, Dimensity 9000 is their first 4nm chipset, and is claimed to be a 4nm smartphone SoC in the world. This SoC is manufactured using TSMC's proprietary 4nm fabrication technology.

The Dimensity 9000 features a tri-cluster CPU configuration that uses the latest generation ARMv9 architecture. Not to forget, they also use the Cortex-X2 core. And here is the configuration they use:

  • One Cortex-X2 core running at 3.05GHz
  • Three Cortex-A710 cores running at 2.85GHz
  • Four Cortex-A510 cores running at 1.80GHz

The Dimensity 9000 also has 8MB of L3 cache and 6MB of system cache. With this mix MediaTek claims that its new flagship SoC is 35 percent faster and 37 percent more power efficient than the current generation of premium Android smartphones.

Not to forget, there is also support for faster and more power-efficient LPDDR5X memory, which can reach speeds of up to 7500Mbps. Not to forget, there are also various other features that come with the RAM.

Meanwhile, for the GPU, they use the ARM-Mali G710 GPU. This GPU features a total of 10 cores, this new integrated graphics processor supports mobile ray tracing and an FHD panel with a refresh rate of 180Hz.

The Dimensity 9000 can also handle up to one 320MP resolution camera thanks to an 18-bit HDR-capable image signal processor. The chipset also supports a triple-prime camera solution with 32MP resolution, with all three sensors capable of capturing HDR video while consuming less power at the same time.

MediaTek also says that the SoC is equipped with MediaTek's fifth generation APU, making it four times more energy efficient and four times more powerful than the previous generation technology.

In terms of connectivity, the new silicon uses the integrated M80 5G modem and supports the new 3GPP R16 5G standard, which supports 7Gbps downlink speeds. Other technologies supported by the Dimensity 9000 include Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6E 2x2 MIMO, Bluetooth LEAudio, and Beidou III-B1C GNSS.
